Professional situation today

It is actual fact, that humanist professions are very profitable today. Since childhood a lot of people believe such work to be very interesting. With such an viewpoint they are reared in their families, go to school, to a university and finally they begin educating their own children that way. Blind alley.
Why is it so? What do make people think that engineering sciences have lost their significance?
There are several reasons.
first modern engineering reached such a high extent of progress that the majority of people is capable of operating it without having special technological skill. thereby there is no need for subsequent spreading of technical skill. Humanits application starts prevailing in all aspects of life.
second it is an well known fact that we exist in the consumer society. People in it don’t want to work with their hands. They prefer to describe everything and use products, but not to make something by themselves. Naturally this phenomenon does not influence positively on dissemination of technological knowledge. People are simply not interested in it.
In the third place is the fact that the resource base has reached such a degree of desolation that we often have no place for work after studying the theory.
at last a very major thing is the policy of the government. What professions does it popularize as needed nowadays? We can easily find out it by researching our mass-media. The internet, the television, the radio, the press – what specialities do they promote now? It is easy to prove that they are full of non-technical images. Mass-media show us easy life in which there is no place for hard-work, but there are a lot of talks, beautiful scenes and fantasies.
What do we have as a after all?
Lack of experienced workers in the technological sphere. There are a lot of philosophers, lawyers, artists, singers, politicians, professors but a few people, able to operate for example a classic jointer planer. This will lead to a difficult situation when we will be needing very simple things which are very important for our comfortable way of living.
Besides that our education system is totally ruined. There is no technical literature of high quality – it is either sold or lost. There is no qualified lecturers able to train worthy personnel working in non-humanist spheres.
Such is the picture. Sad, isn’t it?
Then, there is an adequate question: what should our country do in order to correct the situation? It seems to me that there are several actions to be taken. firstly our education system should change its attitude towards technical professions and specialities and theirs perspectives. state should do its best in order to promote technological professions in mass-media.
And of course, the best way to preserve technological professions is to assign enough means both for the payment for the people who work in this sphere and to the creating an adequate resource base.
